9 Ways to Make Your Child Sleep Better

“Early to rise, early to bed, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and dead.” — James Thurber

When they’re young, every child resists naps, and every adult wishes they could rest. To promote their mental and physical growth, babies and children require substantially more sleep than adults. Make you child sleep better.

Having a daily routine of sleeping at the same time is a task. There is only a small ratio of parents that are able to put their children on sleep at a fixed regime. I would like to share my knowledge on this platform on sleep habits for kids.

When they’re young, every child hates naps, and every adult wishes they could lay. To promote their mental and physical growth, babies and children require substantially more sleep than adults.

Our current lifestyles have an impact on our healthy lifestyles that we live such a hurried and mechanical existence. Parents’ work schedules, after-school activities for kids, heavy traffic make it almost impossible to get home on time, resulting in less or no time for family, and so on.

As evenings are often busy, maintaining a tranquil and relaxing setting for bedtime is nearly tough.

Make Your Child Sleep Better – Why a Child Needs Ideal Sleeping Hours?

Our modern lifestyles have had an impact on our once-healthy lifestyles because we live such a hectic and busy life. Parents’ work schedules, after-school activities for children, heavy traffic on roads making it nearly impossible to get home on time, thus resulting in spending less family time. Nowadays, in a busy environment, its becoming difficult to have a calm and healthy sleep pattern.

Healthy sleep is required for a child on regular basis. When a child is relaxed, they wake up energetic. As a result, the mind and body are energised to begin a new day. In addition, their growth and development will be on target. They will be awake fresh, they will be able to focus well on their tasks and learning.

They will also have better control over themselves than a sleep-deprived child because their intellect will be in better control. Sleep deprivation is also one of the leading causes of childhood disorders.

Making sleep a top priority requires discipline and commitment. Assist your child to understand their regular night regime and how important sleep is for them. It is very essential to get a good sleep after a busy day.

1. Know the Ideal Sleeping Hours of Your Child

Know-the-Ideal-Sleeping

Having said that, every kid is different so it’s ok if they sleep a little more or less.
Hence defines their  sleep duration. Mostly, young children sleep for 10-13 hours, elementary-school students require 10-11 hours, and secondary school requires about 8-10 hours.

2. Turn Off The Electronics

Turn-Off-The-Electronics

According to studies, the blue light emitted by screens can wake up the brain and make it difficult to fall asleep, resulting in:

  • less sleep,
  • lower sleep quality,
  • morning weariness, and
  • nutrition issues in youngsters

It is especially important to be cautious when using small devices, such as phones or tablets, which are held closer to the face. It’s a good idea to turn them off an hour before bedtime.

Keep your phones charged outside the bedroom, if possible, or at least far away from the bed

3. Follow a Bedtime Routine

Follow-a-Bedtime

Brushing your teeth is a smart place to start with.
(we have written a blog on 5 DENTAL MYTHS BUSTED)

Nothing beats a nice bath for relaxation. The next thing I do is give my little one a light massage and apply cream before placing him in his jammies.

In our case, a bedtime tale is a must. This is incredibly relaxing for children since they sleep with the narrative in their heads. So pick an excellent bedtime storey that you’ll enjoy. So they dream well while sleeping.

We also have a little conversation about how our day went, the positive and bad things that happened throughout the day and cheering him up, thanking God for the lovely day, and planning our plans for the next day.

A snuggle and a goodnight kiss to your precious one, wishing him or her happiest dreams, is a must-do.

4. An Ideal Sleep Environment

An-Ideal-Sleep

Creating an appropriate environment for a good sleep is necessary.

  • Keeping sented candles can help to calm the mind.
  • Playing soothing music at night.
  • Make sure there are no devices in the area and that they are turned off or in silent mode.
  • Make the bed as comfortable and tidy as possible for the youngsters to enjoy a restful night’s sleep.
  • Make sure the temperature in your children’s rooms is adequate for the season.

5. Lifestyle Habits

Lifestyle-Habits
  • Ensure that your children participate in enough physical activity each day, such as playing with friends, taking a walk, cycling, and so on.
  • At least 90 minutes before night, all electronic devices should be turned off.
  • It’s best to have a healthy dinner early in the evening. In the evenings, stay away from junk food.
  • There will be no schoolwork or bedtime games. Because the brain associates activity with its location, it might be tough to psychologically break out of a study mood when the lights are turned out.
  • Avoid drinking tea or coffee late at night; instead, warm milk is preferable

6. Keep Up the Routines on Weekends or Holidays

Keep-Up-the-Routines

During the holidays, try not to disrupt your children’s nighttime routine. A little wiggle room, such as staying awake an hour longer than normal, is OK. Don’t overextend yourself to the point where the usual cycle is disrupted. When children’s routines are consistent, they do significantly better.

7. Avoid late afternoon naps

Avoid-late-afternoon

Getting enough sleep is a wonderful way for our children to unwind and recharge. It will be tough to get children to sleep on time at night if they nap in the evening or late afternoon. Allow children to become tired during the day through exciting activities or their daily routine, and then take a brief nap in the early afternoon. Make sure they don’t go to bed after 4 p.m. Older children should not be reliant on naps, which means they should go to bed earlier and sleep for longer periods of time.

8. Encourage Good health and Nutrition

Encourage-Good-health

Eating right and healthy is key to our effective daily activities. Eating right is very important for a good sleep.

Our ability to function effectively in our everyday activities is dependent on our ability to eat properly and in a healthy manner. For a good night’s sleep, it’s critical to eat well.

  • Consume the appropriate amount of food at the appropriate time.
  • Avoid caffeine and aerated drinks, especially in the late afternoons and evenings, for a good night’s sleep.
  • Physical activity and exercises help youngsters sleep better and longer, thus they should be included in their daily routine.

9. Undisturbed Sleep

Undisturbed-Sleep
  • Ensure that children sleep soundly and for a lengthy period in order for them to grow and develop properly.
  • Ascertain that your child is at ease.
  • Clothes and blankets should not be a hindrance to mobility.
  • If your child emerges from her room after you’ve put her to bed, softly but firmly remind him or her that it’s time to go to bed.

5 MUST READ MORAL STORIES FOR KIDS TO START WITH

Short Stories is the best form of learning to improve  a child’s IQ. They’re the most entertaining yet effective means of expanding children’s vocabulary and giving them good morals. Basically, it  is a great start to educate them on life lessons in a way they can understand.

Not just that, it instills a child’s interest in exploring further, concentrate better, and develop their own behavioral interests which indeed is the expected outcome of story telling.

So now the question comes what to start with the zillion of options out of there!? Just stick around till the end of the page and the problem will be sorted until the next one we will get for you:)

 1. A Glass of Milk

A-Glass-of-Milk

Once upon a time, a poor boy went door to door asking for food because he was hungry but nobody gave him anything except one girl. When the girl noticed the boy is in a bad condition, she offered him a glass of milk for free. Years later, when that same girl fell , she went to one of the finest doctors in town. She was finally cured, but didn’t have the money to pay the doctor’s fee. However, when the hospital handed her the bill, it said ‘Paid in full, with a glass of milk’.

Moral Of The Story: Kindness never goes unrewarded.

2. Elephant and Friends

Elephant-and-Friends

There was an elephant who was alone. She encountered a rabbit, a frog, and a monkey, but they all said one thing “you are too big, you cannot be my friend.” “The elephant was let down. One day, a tiger was about to attack those animals. To safeguard the animals in the forest, the elephant approached the tiger and kicked him. When the other animals found out, they expressed their regret and made friends with the elephant.

Moral Of The Story: Friends always come in different sizes and shapes.

3. The Bundle of Sticks

The-Bundle-of-Sticks

An old man had three sons who were all hard workers but always arguing on petty things. He was tired of seeing them fighting and decided to teach them a lesson. He handed each of them a bundle of sticks and told them to break them one by one. It took them only a few minutes to accomplish this. The old man then asked them to bundle the sticks together. This turned out to be an impossible task because the sticks were too strong together. It dint take much time for them to realize their mistake. Thus, they stopped fighting and started living happily ever after.

Moral Of The Story: Strength Lies in Unity

4 The Woodcutter and The Golden Axe

The-Woodcutter

It was a bright, sunny day, when his axe slipped out of his hand and fell into the river while he was cutting a tree. He could not  imagine getting it on his own because the river was so deep. He only had one axe, which he used to cut through the river. He got really worried about how he would be able to support himself now! The Goddess was so delighted by the woodcutter’s honesty that he gave him his iron axe as well as two more axes as a reward. The moral of this story is to always be truthful. Honesty is valued at all times. As a reward for his honesty, he was given two more axes.

Moral Of The Story – Always be honest. Honesty is always rewarded.

5 The golden touch

The-golden-touch

There was once a king named Midas who did a good deed for a Satyr and was granted a wish by the God of Wine, Dionysus. Midas requested that everything he touched turn to gold. Despite Dionysus’ best efforts, Midas argued that the request was wonderful, and it was granted!

Midas got thrilled as he went about touching everything and converting it into gold.

Midas looked to eat something as her was hungry. He picked up a piece of food, but could not eat as it changed into gold with his touch, and he couldn’t eat it! “Perhaps this wasn’t such a nice desire after all!” grumbled Midas.

When Midas’ beloved daughter saw him in distress, she wrapped her arms around him to console him, and she, too, turned to gold! Midas exclaimed, “The golden touch is no blessing. “He went to the river and wept. The sand of that river turned as yellow as “fool’s gold” for it is there, they say, that King Midas washed away the curse of the golden touch with his own tears.

Moral Of The StoryDon’t be greedy in life, be happy with what you have.

Stories play a crucial role in the upbringing of a child. Stories help in improving child IQ and brain function. Reading books to your child can increase your child’s vocabulary. These books can help you to make your child smart and intelligent. As books help in following ways:-

  • Increases empathy.

5 Dental Myths Busted | Dental Facts and Myths

As a mother, I have been cautious about some of the generally non-highlighted sections of a toddler’s life. Like we do know those excess chocolates will do harm to his/her teeth but taking dental care as an option in the first 3 years may cause the same harm as first. Eventually, I had been through a lot of research, consulted specialists, and finding answers to some of the most common dental care myths.

Myth #1: Cavities and rotting in an infant’s teeth are unimportant.

5 Dental Myths Busted

Cavities and tooth decay in an infant’s teeth can compromise permanent oral health. If the main teeth become so rotten that they must be extracted, the spacing in the mouth may be affected. If the gap left after the tooth is removed is not maintained, the permanent, or secondary, tooth may grow into the incorrect position, creating crowding and crooked teeth.

Furthermore, when children are young, the habits that contributed to the development of a cavity are typically created and solidified.

Myth #2: Kids don’t need to see the dentist until their permanent teeth grow in

Myth2

Before the age of one, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that all children see a pediatric dentist. A pediatric dentist will clean any teeth that have begun to grow in and assess their dental health during a child’s dental appointment.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that different suggestions are given for children of different ages and health conditions. It is critical for parents to understand how to assist their children in maintaining good oral hygiene for which seeing a pediatric dentist specialised in dental health is the best method for parents and children to learn.

Myth #3: Toddlers’ teeth don’t need to be brushed.

Myth3

Why not!? Even if they just have baby teeth, children of all ages should wash their teeth. Cavities can harm a child’s dental health, whether the child has baby teeth or adult teeth. If you are a working mom or stuck in house chores, just pick any time in the whole to brush your kid’s teeth and that is all.

Myth #4: You don’t need to floss.

Myth4

Did you know that if you don’t floss, you could be missing up to 80% of the surfaces of your teeth during your daily oral hygiene routine?! Flossing is essential because cavities can grow between the teeth as well. Plaque and tartar love to hide between the teeth, causing havoc on the gums and putting your child at risk for cavities and early gum disease.

Myth #5: Cavities are an unavoidable part of life.

Myth5

Cavities are completely preventable! The American Dental Association (ADA) suggests visiting the dentist every six months for a full cleaning and check-up to help prevent tooth decay. Don’t forget that maintaining good dental hygiene on a daily basis is also important for cavity prevention!
